Nothing beats going home.

Yesterday I flew home to NY for one of my best friend's wedding which is this upcoming weekend! We met in Rochester, New York, when we started college in 2005. Two years later...after a few trials and tribulations, she met the man of her dreams, whom she'll be walking down that aisle to. I'm so happy for the two of them, I couldn't have dreamt up a better guy for her to spend the rest of her life with!

I'll do my best to post some pictures while I'm home but with the way my week is planned who knows if I will have room! Jetlag has already caught up to me as I fell asleep last night at 6:30pm NY time and then woke up at 5am with loads of energy! Right now I'm off to wake up my little lovebug, my niece, and put her on the school bus. I have to make sure I make every second count while I'm home since I live so far away!

Happy Tuesday Lovelies! xx

{It's a NEW Day}

harpersbazzar.com : Brighten Up!
There's something about today, and last night to be specific, where I realized it's time for a good change. Aside from my partner in crime being oceans away, there is nothing we cannot conquer. We're both the blogger, inspirational, go-getter, creative type. Our sleepless nights and months of hard work had led us to where we are now. Mal took the leap of faith to try a new country and landed an amazing opportunity to work with Boutique1.com and I have stayed determined to make something of MC in the states, even while working with Michael Kors. Talk about double tasking! It's time to make this the year of progress and change with MC going forward. Uhh, did I not just sound like a politician? Anyways, we're about to get this party started. I've got my iced latte and blackberry on my right hand side.

Let's do this!

[Vintage] Gifts + Thrifts.

Pictured from the top: Vintage sequinned bolero, Vintage moonstone earrings/necklace

This gold sequinned bolero jacket was an amazing find that I bought while thrift shopping with Criss last year in Charlotte. The sales clerk refused to sell it to me or even give me the price, claiming it was only for "visual merchandising purposes" -You better believe I wasn't about to fall for that one... asking to speak with the manager, my problems were quickly solved! Grand total? $4.00 - ah-mayyy-zing! I haven't had the chance to wear it anywhere in Dubai... and now the weather is much to extreme to wear such a heavy piece; The thing literally weighs like 5lbs. So, for now, it's hanging in my closet separate from the rest of my wardrobe, standing out on it's own [a little shrine to it if you will] so I can appreciate it's beauty every time I enter my closet.

A sucker for pieces that have a story, these moonstone earrings and necklace came from my Nonnie - or as others would say [grandmother]. She wore these pieces to her junior prom in high school. When she gave me this set I instantly fell in love. The earrings are so amazing with their screw-on backs, a perfect reminder that they're special and a rare find at that. The necklace reminds me of Tom Binns jewelry without the hefty price tag... and better yet - my set has family history. Top that Tom Binns!

Too bad there are absolutely zero vintage/thrift shops in Dubai... that's on my top 5 list of things I miss from home...
